The Champaign County Chamber of Commerce is hosting our next Business Success Seminar: The Benefits of Becoming Business Enterprise Program certified. The seminar begins at 8:30 am Tuesday, April 3 at the Chamber office at 303 West Kirby, Champaign .
The Business Enterprise Program promotes the economic development of diverse businesses, those owned by minorities, women, and persons with disabilities. Last year the state of Illinois awarded nearly $400 million to BEP-certified firms.
Certification with the BEP will offer your business the opportunity to participate in the State’s mandated goal of 20% inclusion of minority, or female, or persons with disabilities owned companies in the State’s procurement award. You can grow your revenues, build your capacity, and enhance your credentials.
To qualify as a diverse business under BEP if you must meet the following criteria:
- At least 51 percent owned and controlled by persons who are minority, women or designated as disabled
- Must be a United States citizen or resident alien
- Annual gross sales of less than $75 million
Join Carlos Gutierrez of the Illinois Department of Central Management Services will facilitate your enrollment in the Business Enterprise Program at this seminar. If you have started the BEP certification process or are already certified, this seminar might be a helpful refresher course or a venue to ask specific questions about your company. This seminar is free to chamber members.
